Newsweek reveals, in its July 4th edition, that “The 1812 Overture” actually was written by a Russian named Tchaikovsky.  It “celebrates a Russian victory, not an American one,” and therefore, “has nothing to do with America’s War of 1812.”

In other news, The Sex Pistols’ song “God Save the Queen” does not have quite the same lyrics as the national anthem of the United Kingdom.
