short paper on women in Kenya

Using your journal, as well as the articles below, write on the role and condition of women in Kenya.

This topic was something that we all thought about and witnessed while we were there.  I am interested in your ability to use your experiences in Kenya, as well as the more general and theoretical information in the articles below, to craft a thoughtful paper.  The more of the sources you use below, the better.  (Don’t just use the shortest articles, for example.)

The specifics: 1250-1500 words, typed, double-spaced, paper-clipped or stapled, with one-inch margins.  Due Feb. 10th.

Herz and Sperling, What works in girls education, Council on Foreign Relations, chapters 1-2 and 6.

Kristof and WuDunn, The Women’s Crusade, New York Times, 23 August 2009.

Booth, “Global women, local science,”, chs. 1, 5.

Gabrielle Menezes, “Widows Support Themselves Selling Maize to World Food Programme“, AllAfrica.com, 1 November 2009

Women Weighed Down by Culture, IRIN (Humanitarian News and Analysis), 16 November 2009

Nicholas Kristof, “What are you carrying?” New York Times, (video).
